Caramelized Apples with Cheddar

The picture doesn’t do it justice. It is not a golden yellow as this. Photos from my phone.

This is a great appetizer recipe*

If you have a 12″ skillet use the following:

3 medium-sized Granny Smith Apples, peel-core-slice thin

2 tbsp butter

1/2 cup of cheddar cheese

1 baguette thin slice rounds

Method:

Heat your broiler in your oven.

On the stove top, heat skillet over a medium heat for 30 seconds then cover the bottom of pan with apple slices.

Spot the butter across the apples and cook for 6 minutes.

Place pan under broiler and lightly brown the tops of the apples, top with cheddar and slide back under the broiler to melt.

Remove and serve with baguette slices have guests help themselves.

* alternatives, add shallots or red onion along with brown sugar before you place apples in the pan then a splash of calvados
